Case
A small website mistake can make a company surprisingly hard to find. One search engine had indexed every page of take-two.co. The other had barely been able to reach it for months — and our first theory about why was wrong.

The short version
Take-Two’s website was showing up normally in Google, but Bing had barely been able to access it for months. The site could be reached at two addresses, and the version with www was still pointing at an old temporary page from before the current site went live. Google was using the working address. Bing was trying the other one.
We corrected the address and added two pages describing services the site had never explained. Google picked both up within a day. Bing has not visited the site since 4 July, so the effect there is still unmeasured — and we are not going to describe that half as a win until it is.
We came across this while working on take-two.co, a 3D scanning and printing studio in Cascais, Portugal. The website was showing up normally in Google. Bing had barely been able to access it for months.
The reason was surprisingly simple.
Take-Two could be reached through two addresses: take-two.co and www.take-two.co. Normally both should lead to the same website. But the version with www was still pointing to an old temporary page from before the current site went live.
Google was using the working address. Bing was trying the other one.
We initially suspected a security setting was blocking Bing. That is the usual explanation when one crawler gets through and another does not, and it is the kind of answer that sounds right enough to stop looking. It was wrong.
Once we looked more closely at what each search engine was actually requesting, the problem became clear, and we corrected the address.
We are including this because a case study that shows only the theories that panned out is not describing how the work actually goes.
While doing that, we noticed another issue. Take-Two recreates parts that are no longer available to buy — but the website barely explained this service. So even Google, which could reach the site perfectly well, had very little information to work with when someone searched for that kind of service.
That left us with two quite different problems. One search engine could not properly reach the site, while the other could reach it but was not being told enough about what the company actually does.
We fixed the address, and added two pages covering services that were previously missing.
Google found both new pages within a day of them going live.
Bing has not visited the site again since 4 July, so we do not yet know what effect the fix will have there. The problem was corrected on 28 July. As of 13 August that is forty days without a visit.
Open — not yet measurable
Both new pages are on Bing’s list. Neither has ever been loaded. Until Bing returns to the site, we cannot say whether correcting the address fixed anything on that side, and we will not claim it did.
We will publish the comparison when Bing comes back, whichever way it reads.
That matters beyond Bing itself, because Bing can also influence what people discover through AI assistants such as ChatGPT, which reads Bing’s index when it searches the web. A site Bing has not loaded is a site those assistants have little to go on when describing it.

This is where normal website reports have a gap. They can tell you who reached your website. They cannot tell you who was looking for exactly what you offer and never found you.
Sometimes improving visibility starts well before getting more traffic. It starts by making sure search engines can reach your website and clearly understand what you do.
